One of the best parts about working at a camp is that it allows you to meet some pretty amazing and creative people. It’s the people that keep you coming back year after year, and those relationships and time spent laughing, with all your inside jokes and late night discussions, are what keep you all the way until the following summer.
I would like to introduce you to someone. This is Ellen. She’s pretty amazing, and is probably the most genuine person I’ve ever met. She has this amazing bubbly personality that keeps you smiling and makes you feel loved and appreciated on a deep level.
Ellen and I really connected this summer and had some great conversations about writing and blogging. Ellen is actually a blogger herself, and she runs At The Corner of Firsts & Lasts, an every day, living life, buckets of truth kind of blog. Before leaving camp, Ellen asked me to take some photos for her, which turned into an hour long photoshoot of the two of us running all over camp to capture the beauty that we enjoy all summer long. We had such a good time, laughing and talking, and I wanted to share them here with you.
Ellen’s blog is unique because she’s good at getting to the heart of something, sidestepping the BS and making you stop, think, and appreciate your own circumstance. Her most recent post, He Leadeth Me Beside Still Waters, talks about finding stillness and peace during her summer at Cedar Campus. “This is where my heart healed, my mind quieted, and my feet slowed. My eyes opened and I found myself unable to stop smiling at the wonder around me. I mean, I seriously giggled and gasped at the beauty I saw.”
Lately, I’ve been missing people, and Ellen is one of them. She is kind and loving and has a wonderful laugh. She makes you feel like you can do and achieve anything, and is just amazing friend. I don’t usually do huge blog spotlights like this, but I wanted to share some beautiful photos of her, and share her blog with all of you. I know that you will be able to feel her radiance just through her words on her blog. So go check her out, and send her some love. She is more than deserving.
P.S. Ellen, thanks for being my friend. I really love you. I am honored to have had you in my life this summer.
