My alarm goes off, an annoying tune in the midst of an otherwise perfect morning. I get up first, letting the dog out, and make coffee with a ridiculous amount of creamer because that’s the way I like it. Sometimes I’ll put dishes away or take a shower, but most mornings I stand on the front porch with the dog and watch the sky turn pink and orange.
I’m not a morning person. It takes me a long time, and a certain amount of caffeine, to wake me up enough to function. And there are always days that are easier or harder. I love listening to music in the mornings too. I have a couple different playlists that I filter through, slowly opening up to the world as the songs play through. I’ve had a couple people ask me about what were on my morning playlist, so I’ve decided to share a couple. These are a collection of just a few of those songs…
- Bon Iver — ‘re:stacks’
- Kim Janssen — ‘Drift’
- Gemma Hayes — ‘4:35 a.m.’
- Amanda Seyfriend — ‘Little House’
- Ella Mae Bowen — ‘Holding out for a Hero’
- Peter Broderick — ‘I Am Piano’
- Crooked Still — ‘Soon or Never’
- The Ballroom Thieves — ‘Bees’
- Rosemary & Garlic — ‘Old Now’
Check them out in this compilation here. Thanks for listening.
